The community of Point Hope had a single lane road out to their water source subject to frequent flooding and continual repair. This project will provide egress inland during major flood events; and access to the Kukpuk Rivers, water and gravel sources, and terrestrial subsistence foods.

HDL’s Geotechnical Services Group performed a geophysical evaluation to evaluate the shear wave velocity at four sites near Point Hope. The geophysical evaluation supported the selection of the best potential sites for further evaluation by drilling. The two-phase material source reconnaissance aided the North Slope Borough in identifying a gravel source for future use
